There’s not long to go now before the arrival of Euro 6, and some truck manufacturers are still putting the final touches to their next generation line-ups ahead of the deadline. The big news this month is the launch of Scania’s top-power 730 bhp engine, which is the last of the Swedish company’s V8s to undergo conversion to meet Euro 6 emissions standards. But while they were tinkering, Scania’s boffins also managed to finalise a new 13-litre, six-cylinder 370 bhp powerplant to prop up its offerings for lighter-weight applications; make a biodiesel engine based on its modular 320 or 360 bhp five-cylinder, nine-litre lump; and add a number of tweaks and upgrades to its Fleet
Management and Driver Support systems. You can find all the details in Industry News, starting page 6. We’ve also been busy this issue. First up, we’re kicking off our search for the Best Truck in
Britain – and we need your help! We’ve argued long and hard over the shortlist, but reckon our six
candidates represent some of the most stunning commercial vehicles in the country. Of course,
the final say goes to you – so please let us know which truck you think should be crowned the

Good mix, great read
