SOTHERTON BREAKS THE GLASS CEILING
Kelly to coach England’s track and field team at 2022 Commonwealth Games
Traditionally the lead coaches for UK elite athletes have been men. So WR is excited to congratulate Olympian Kelly Sotherton for being appointed Team England’s Track & Field Team Leader for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
World and Commonwealth heptathlon medallist Sotherton will be able to draw on her elite competition experience and multi-event background to push our athletes to achieve their potential in 2022.
Sotherton became the Commonwealth Games gold medallist in 2006 and as Team Leader, she is tasked with delivering a world class team at Birmingham 2022 and will seek to achieve a high medal count while also providing opportunities for developing athletes to gain a quality experience in what may be their first major championships.
