In issue 361 of Woodturning magazine we have lots for you to enjoy, beginning with our Guest Editor Richard Findley who asks two pro turners for their different approaches to turning challenges. Richard also interviews Iranian woodturner, Azadeh Masoomi.

In Projects, Jim McConnachie makes a segmented ginger jar; James Duxbury turns wooden cupcakes; Ian Woodford makes a double-rimmed bowl; Les Symonds turns an amphora with a steamed-wood tripod stand; Emiliano Achaval takes a trip down memory lane to turn a much-loved piggy bank; Sue Harker constructs an open segmented vase; and Jason Breach makes an elegant hand mirror.

In our Techniques section, Adrian Jacobs installs electric indexing on his lathe; Andy Coates tries out texturing techniques; Mark Palma shares his milk paint tips; Kurt Hertzog answers readers’ questions; Rick Rich tries a vintage tapered spindle exercise; and Keith Rowley has a guide to sanding and finishing.

In Features, we learn how the 19th-century logging boom changed landscapes across North America, and how deforestation remains an issue of global concern today; we talk to 15-year-old Peter, who turned to woodwork during lockdown; and Pete Moncrieff-Jury looks at ancient influences on design.

Plus we have the latest news from the woodturning community and a sneak peek of our next issue.
