DEFENCE is something that teams put a lot of emphasis on.
The widespread belief in Rugby League is that if you’re hard to score against, then you’re hard to beat and that has certainly been the case for Hull FC so far in 2021.
The Black and Whites have conceded just 14 points in two matches, which is a massive turnaround considering that last year they were one of the worst defensive sides in the competition, and it has been the catalyst for two convincing wins as they swept aside Salford Red Devils.
Under the stewardship of Brett Hodgson some real steel has been added to Hull’s efforts without the ball, and they dominated the Red Devils for large periods of the game, forcing errors and limiting their opponents’ chances throughout the contest.
Add to that some slick ball playing from new man Josh Reynolds and the early season form of Jake Connor at fullback and the signs are good for Hull so far.
