The derby clash between last year’s championship finalists was won convincingly by Carcassonne, who defeated Limoux 28-8 and put a clear margin between themselves and their rivals at the top of the table.
Limoux carried off the championship title last year but on this occasion, lacking a number of key players, they came off second best.
Once again it was Carcassonne full-back Morgan Escaré who landed the decisive blow, first when taking Vincent Albert’s pass to push the score on to 10-0, following Alexis Escamilla’s opener, and in the second half as he raced over the line to put the game beyond Limoux’s reach.
