A t the time of writing, the latest Steam Hardware & Software Survey is out (https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey), and it looks like PC gamers are embracing Linux… very, very slowly. For the fourth month in a row, Linux is now installed on over one per cent of PCs involved with the survey, rising to 1.13 per cent. That may not seem like a lot, but momentum is going in the right direction, at least.
While the Steam Survey only involves people who a) use Steam and b) agree to take part, that’s still a decent sample size that gives us an idea of kind of hardware and software PC gamers are using. With the Linux-powered Steam Deck handheld coming in 2022, we expect this percentage to climb even further.
