Raspberry Pi OS 09.22
Les Pounder explores the latest Raspberry Pi OS in a decade of releases that saw it become the gold standard for single-board computer OSes.
IN BRIEF
The latest Raspberry Pi OS covers all models of Raspberry Pi, including the models released a decade ago. This release is more of an update and bug fix, remedying underlying issues and introducing Picamera V2, a new network manager and keyboard shortcuts to search for applications and launch wireless connectivity configurations.
The latest Raspberry Pi OS 32-bit update has landed, with little fanfare and just a smattering of new features. Let’s cut to the chase: it’s more of a bug fix and update of included software. That said, the release is well implemented and we see new features such as a searchable main menu. If you favour keyboard shortcuts over the mouse, pressing the Super (Windows) key and typing in an application name will bring you great joy. This leads nicely into new keyboard shortcuts for Bluetooth (Ctrl+Alt+B) and Wi-Fi (Ctrl+Alt+W) menus.
