Max vs Ultra
Tests from Primate Labs’ Geekbench test suite (browser.geekbench.com) show that the M4 Max achieves an average score of around 4,000 for single-core CPU performance and just over 25,000 for multi-core CPU performance. In contrast, the M3 Ultra only scores 3,250 for single-core CPU performance, which means that the fourth-generation M4 chips are clearly faster when it comes to a simple core-by-core comparison. That said, the larger overall number of CPU cores on the M3 Ultra lets it pull slightly ahead with a score of 27,800 for multi-core performance – although that’s a fairly modest improvement given the far higher price of the M3 Ultra.
