LONG DISTANCE CALLING
Live At Lichtburg
EARMUSIC
Instrumental post-rockers mark another milestone
Marking the Münster band’s biggest headline show to date, this live document captures Long Distance Calling at their engrossing best. Recorded at Essen’s Lichtburg cinema in 2024, the majority of the album is taken up by tracks from recent efforts Eraser and How Do We Want To Live?, with the galloping Giants Leaving and the haunting, gritty 500 Years interspersed with Florian Füntmann’s gregarious crowd interactions. While the Blu-ray features most of 2009’s Avoid The Light, the audio version’s inclusion of just the iridescent build of Apparitions and Black Paper Planes’ throttling bass is not to be sniffed at. The dreamy, heartfelt Out There and the climactic Metulsky Curse Revisted end another irresistible exhibition. ■■■■■■■■■■
