With the long-awaited Dapol Class 59 now available (see page 80), now is the perfect time to look back at the liveries carried by these landmark locomotives. Representing the first mass-produced diesel locomotives to be designed and built outside this country, the ‘59s’ eventually comprised three sub-classes, each having been ordered by different operators.
