1. What is your earliest railway memory? Standing beside the Skelton Junction-Glazebrook freight line, in Cheshire, at the age of 12. Watching a scruffy Class 31 trundle by with a train of 16t mineral wagons. I was hooked.
2. What is your most memorable train journey? From Fort William to Mallaig – before Harry Potter was invented!
3. Do you have a favourite railway station? On my first visit to the Great Central Railway with a friend for a diesel gala, we walked onto the platforms at Quorn and Woodhouse station before any other visitors arrived. It really did feel like we had stepped back in time.
