The eastern theme also continues in ‘N’ gauge, with Graham Farish unveiling NER ‘P7’/ LNER ‘D12’ coal hoppers. These wooden-bodied 20-ton wagons were introduced during the first years of the 20th Century, and the LNER eventually inherited over 17,000 from the NER. Many survived through to BR days, after which they passed into private ownership, National Coal Board use and ultimately preservation.
