Produced by Sonic Models exclusively for Rails of Sheffield, the Great Central Railway ‘9N’ – better known as the LNER ‘A5’ – 462T originally debuted in the summer of 2023, and our full review appeared in MR314. The ‘A5’ happened to be Sonic’s first ‘OO’ locomotive project and sales proved healthy enough to warrant a second run.
The latest batch of models, manufactured in limited numbers, arrived into stock in late August, just as this issue was being completed. Four new versions have been produced, consisting of GCR and LNER lined green versions, plus a pair of lined BR black, all being offered in DCC-ready format only and at the same price as the previous run.
