I fear I’m going to be controversial but I feel prompted to write about weathering. The prompt was an image on Facebook of immaculate preserved ‘Western’ No. D1015 Western Champion with a comment suggesting that it needed weathering. This came at the end of entries extolling how great various ‘Westerns’ looked late in their careers when they were neglected and scrubbed through to bare metal by Laira’s washing plant and the Exmover chemical that was used. To me, at least, they were a sorry sight.
