Although there is a great deal of perforating, the first project in this month’s magazine demonstrates how effective embossing can be in creating an illusion of depth.
Submitted by Bruno Piechota, the Autumn Gnome design (overleaf ) has
been worked to perfection. The shadowing techniques he has achieved to create his 3D gnome are simply stunning.
This pattern can be used to create a card design or a mounted piece.
Following this is a 3D, grid work lantern project by Ruth Venables (Page 6). It has been designed for Halloween, and is one which I believe is suitable for children to attempt (with supervision).
I think that it’s safe to say that summer is behind us, and so the focus now turns towards Christmas. With that in mind, I’ve selected a couple of Christmas cards for you to be getting on with.
