There was drama aboard Oban lifeboat this month … but not involving a rescue at sea. Saturday September 9 was a historic day for the volunteer crew as it was the first time two of the crew were married – to each other. A blue yacht departed the North Pier pontoons and was escorted across the bay to Dungallan Park by Edith MacDonald. The yacht was carrying Oban RNLI crew member and press of cer Leonie Woolf to her wedding. Upon arrival at the pontoons, an RNLI guard of honour was waiting to line the path to her marriage to fellow RNLI crew member and deputy mechanic Andrew Mead.
