FROM the initial enthusiasm that drove young men to sign up, to the reality of the horrors of the front; from the efforts at home to support the troops, to the shell-shocked aftermath of battle, Three Wee Crows’ performance of Home Fires, Broken Sons brought the grim reality of the First World War to a packed audience at Argyllshire Gathering Hall on Sunday night.
Women took on careers usually reserved for men when the war broke out.
Commissioned as part of the Argyll and Bute Council’s First World War commemorative celebrations, the Taynuilt-based theatre company has been touring Home Fires around Scotland, bringing to life the villages and towns of Argyll during the war through music, poetry, dance and multi-media.
