The gloriously named Ronnie Spain – a moniker that any Essex gangster would (perhaps literally) kill for, although he’s actually Scottish – has been a lorry driver by profession but a GT40 obsessive by inclination, and this incredible piece of research is the distillation of nearly 50 years of gathering data about the cars. Such are the quirks of individual chassis that, should all the GT40s ever made be gathered together and stripped to bare metal, he reckons he could identify about 50% without even having to reference his photo library.
