Thrillers based around the world of classic cars are rare – and usually pretty awful. This one, however, gains credibility from its author’s status as a respected high-end classic car specialist and finder, and anyone involved in the business will have a lot of fun trying to spot the inspirations behind some of the characters. The pacy plot, in which a trader is pitted against organised crime while trying to secure a collection of exotic classics, is nicely developed, full of authentic detail, and thoroughly engaging.
