Is Amazon plotting a UK mobile network?
Starlink isn’t the only satellite provider with eyes on Low Earth Orbit. Amazon has long been promising to put up some competition with its Project Kuiper, although at the time of writing it had yet to deploy anything but prototypes.
That is set to change in early 2025, however, with Amazon preparing to make its first commercial deployments. And another indication that it’s preparing to go live comes in the responses to Ofcom’s consultation on Direct to Device (D2D) satellite services: while SpaceX didn’t offer a response to the consultation, Amazon Kuiper did.
