NEVER MIND THE WEATHER – THESE GREAT SITES ARE ALL SET TO GREET YOU (LOCKDOWN PERMITTING!)

It’s been a really tough year for campsites. The second lockdown in England, the circuit-breakers in Wales and Northern Ireland, and the various tier systems meant some sites that weren’t normally open beyond October, but had planned to operate until Christmas, decided to cut their losses and regroup for the 2021 season. There are, however, many – about 400 in England alone – that usually stay open all year, and they’re ready to welcome guests keen to return to exploring our beautiful landscapes. We’ve picked out a few that offer year-round touring, some of which are adults-only, in areas that have plenty to entertain visitors of all ages!

1 The Quiet Site

Restore body and soul at The Quiet Site, located on a hillside between Little Mell Fell and Ullswater in the beautiful Lake District.

If you love hill-walking or being on the water, this is the place to go. Ullswater is one of England’s most fabulous stretches of water, and it’s surrounded by Lakeland Fells.

The site’s eco-credentials are exemplary, with a zero-waste shop selling cheese, pies, fruit and veg, milk and juice in returnable glass bottles, dry goods and potted plants – and no plastic packaging in sight.

As well as stunning views from the site’s two touring fields, its cosy bar, reckoned to be one of the nicest on any campsite, provides a children’s room and a pool table.

2 Stanmore Hall

Touring Park At this beautiful 12.5-acre wooded parkland in the grounds of Stanmore Hall, the pitches are set among trees and around the lake.

As well as high-grade amenities, there is a shop, facilities for disabled guests, a baby-changing room, a play area and a conservatory for lounging.

The site is located just east of the attractive market town of Bridgnorth, which straddles the River Severn, with an upper and lower level connected by a steep funicular railway.
