GODSTICKS
VENUE THE PEER HAT, MANCHESTER
DATE 01/02/2024
In an unassuming corner just off Stevenson Square in Manchester’s trendy Northern Quarter is an intimate venue that tonight has fiendishly difficult-sounding riffs dripping off its walls. It’s Godsticks’ second run of shows across the UK in support of their impressive LP, This is WhatAWinner Looks Like, and the band make the journey up north in rude health. They’ve opted for local supports on each of these dates, with jazz rockers The Kinky Wizards kicking things off in Bristol, while folk metallers Rifka and a bumper four-band bill will close out the tour in London and Swansea respectively. Such a move helps these bands reach a wider audience and tonight, guitarist/vocalist Darran Charles champions a “blistering” performance from Manchester progressive metallers Prognosis, before spearheading a set that offers the band’s own finger-blurring take on the genre.
