LAUGHING STOCK
Shelter APOLLON
Sixth from Norwegians quivers between quiet and loud.
Named after the final Talk Talk album, this Norwegian trio stress the connection by having a James Marsh artwork on their album cover. They can’t magic up the same lightness of touch as their heroes, with the delineation between heavy bits and floaty bits signposted rather than subtle, but there are plenty of interesting moments on a deliberative, resonant record. Its theme of humanity versus nature is well served by the duel between restraint and excess.
