HILARY WOODS
Night CRIÚ SACRED BONES Irish musician’s beguiling, haunting fourth solo album.
A spectral quality permeates the latest album from Hilary Woods, formerly of late 90s indie band JJ72. As the often gossamer music wafts from the speakers, she feels as if she’s a ghostly presence on her own record, reaching out from beyond the realm of the living. On your first encounter, such is the level of instrumental restraint – economical in its delivery and coupled with vocals that resemble a breath floating on a breeze – that the album seems to barely exist.
