Cacoethes APHAGIA RECORDINGS San Francisco trio trawl the X-files with their esoteric bass-led rumblings.
The Illogistical Resource Dept have a penchant for absurdity, an affinity for B-movie voiceovers and, most noticeably, a fondness for infectious bass guitar. There are other instruments at play here – guitarist Mike Tomassi adds precise Robert Fripp-esque touches throughout and drummer Noa Oz pins the whole thing together – but it’s bassist and occasional vocalist Dan Oscura who makes the biggest imprint, via his those elasticated four-string grooves twanging away with abandon.
