EINAR SOLBERG
EINAR SOLBERG
Leprous’s celestial-throated frontman turns up the widescreen drama and orchestration on his cinematic second solo album.

I t’s always fascinating to see what the creative forces of well-known bands come up with when unfettered from the bounds of the collective. As one of progressive music’s most accomplished and questing acts, Leprous already have an exceptionally broad sonic and emotional palette. At the same time, there’s a recognisable sound that comes from that particular chemistry of personnel and the basic rock band format. Einar Solberg’s extraordinary vocals are, of course, a huge part of that sound and, as the keyboardist and primary songwriter, his brushstrokes are all over everything they do. Even so, a solo album presents the opportunity to try things that wouldn’t necessarily fly under the Leprous banner.
