This little project began after finding a wonderful pocket-watch alarm clock at a charity shop. I immediately visualised a 1/48th scale clock shop inside. A few years ago, I had completed an elaborate clock shop on the top of a grandfather clock called “Hickory Dickory Clock Shoppe”, and since then, I keep finding wonderful ideas for other clock related projects.
The pocket-watch alarm clock was the perfect size to house a 1/48th scale clock collection. It even had a built-in stand which allows the clock to sit at the correct angle on a table. Whenever I start a new project I usually ‘see’ the finished scene in my head, but in this case the project evolved while I was working on it.
Since I wasn’t sure what the rest of the scene was going to look like, I started by altering the clock. The back of the clock pops out, which gives access to the interior to remove the mechanism inside. I found a very delicate and simple clock face design online, which allowed the interior of the clock shop to be viewed.
