Becoming privy to the information that marijuana’s favourite band, Bongzilla, have christened their sixth album to salute the purest form of THC and their Madison, Wisconsin hometown (‘Mad City’) makes things both clear and thick’n’hazy. Furthermore: “We procured 10g of the finest concentrates we could lay our hands on and somewhere north of 120g of cannabis flower. And recorded on two-inch analogue tape over two sessions.” There may be few surprises considering their stoner rock/ psychedelic sludge mastery, but Bongzilla manage excitement. Case in point: Cannonbong is more than 13 minutes of grizzly, percussion-driven, tall tale-telling; C.A.R.T.S lumbers like a stoopshouldered Melvins and American Pot’s flashy blues shuffle will be responsible for worldwide contact highs. ■■■■■■■■■■
