Sounding more fired up than ever thanks to the presence of new drummer Seth Botos, these riffworshipping rockers are in speaker-rattling form on their fifth album. It’s a stoner-spiced tour de force that sees the fuzz-loving Boston natives finally step out of Queens Of The Stone Age’s shadow. Singer/ guitarist Marc Gaffney is their MVP throughout, and his charismatic croon calls to mind legends like Ian Astbury, Pepper Keenan and the late, great Layne Staley. Opener Tom Cruise Control wraps one of the best riffs they’ve ever written around soaring vocals, while the chugging Rambo 2, which boasts some NWOBHM-flavoured duelling leads and 60s pop hooks sung in falsetto, is a future live favourite. Muscular and melodic, Remedy is just what the doctor ordered. ■■■■■■■■■■
