Multiple sightings of foreign fishing vessels, from Murulag (Prince of Wales) and Punsand in the south to Buru (Turnagain) Island in the north, have prompted safety and security concerns across Zenadth Kes.
The Torres Strait commemorated the 90th anniversary of the
1936 Maritime Strike by honouring the legacy of the Torres Strait Island pearl divers of that era on Waiben earlier this month.
In a historic first, the Brisbane Lions and AFL reps, including AFLW players Ally Anderson and Cathy Svarc, made a powerful and joyful visit to Waiben with the team’s 2024 and 2025 Back- to-Back Premiership Cups last week.
