Even today, Zero Mission remains one of the best remakes on Nintendo hardware, matched only by Capcom’s astonishing GameCube update of Resident Evil. It’s effectively a reimagining of the original NES game rather than an authentic remake, built with the Metroid Fusion engine after director Yoshio Sakamoto decided against porting Super Metroid to the Game Boy Advance.
