Since
2008, the Retro Computer Museum, nestled in the heart of England, has been serving as a dedicated hub for retro gamers and computer enthusiasts. Having recently moved to newer, larger premises, the museum now offers an even more relaxed and informative experience, with obscure systems, games, literature and retro-gaming history all waiting to be discovered.
How did the Retro Computer Museum come about?
The original idea was to share my collection. I had around a dozen systems – including a Dragon 32 I’d picked up for 99p – so I created a website to show them off. But it was terrible, so I got a friend to do a better one while another made the ‘jester’ logo. It also had a forum, and within a few weeks, people from other forums were visiting. More and more people joined, so we thought of putting on a little event at our local village hall. We didn’t expect anyone to come – but 70 people turned up. This led to a second event, and we began to get stuff donated.
