THE STUDIO’S 2600 COIN-OP CONVERSION SWAN SONGS
◼︎ Activision’s first 2600 arcade port Kung-Fu Master looks and plays a lot like the coin-op original, albeit with less opponents on the screen at any given time. Understandably, the firm’s Double Dragon conversion is far less visually impressive than its arcade inspiration, but it replicates its street fights more accurately than you might expect. The studio’s 2600 adaptation of Commando is a showcase of what the system can do in the right hands, and nicely replicates the coin-op with few concessions. Lastly, Activision’s 2600 version of Rampage looks the part and does a good job of translating the arcade hit’s gameplay.
