KEYSTONE KAPERS
1983
n You could just about get away with callingKeystone Kapersa platformer, in that you have to guide police officer Keystone Kelly up and down the floors of a department store in pursuit of shoplifter Harry Hooligan. There’s a fair bit of jumping to be done, although never to or from platforms. Instead you have to leap over projectile-like consumer goods and shopping trolleys. In place of platforms, you instead depend on lifts and escalators to get to higher-up areas. Chasing down and catching Harry before he ascends to the roof of the store is your primary objective, after which you get awarded points for the time remaining on a countdown. There’s also a secondary objective of collecting objects that are lying around the store having been lost by customers, such as bags of money and suitcases. Doing so adds more points to your tally, and sinceKeystone Kapershas no ending, improving your high score is your only way of showing your skill at playing the compelling cops and robbers title.
