I'm back at work and dying of jet lag. The Games were fun, and the result has not sunk in yet.
Before leaving my energy was spent on the Covid protocols. There were a lot of rules to get into Tokyo, but we also did a pre-Tokyo camp in Hawaii, and they have tight restrictions too.
Hawaii was a good trip. It was a ninehour flight and a six-hour time change.
I'm glad we split the journey to Japan.
It was nice to have a couple of days to adjust and workout before flying direct to Tokyo.
We landed and began a regimented program of Covid-testing at the airport. I was warned it might take three hours, but we were on our way in an hour.
It was impressive; we even got our Paralympic accreditation before we left.
My theory is that the Paralympics tend to run smoother than the Olympics. The Paralympics is held second, and we have fewer athletes. All the kinks are worked out at the Olympics. All credit to the Japanese for pulling it off. It was a big project and they executed it well.
