MATT BOMER

FACE TO FACE WITH THE BIGGEST STARS
Matt Bomer has the heart, soul and looks of a hero. The charming 43-year-old actor was notably close to filling the Man of Steel’s tights in an unproduced Superman movie. Since then, he’s voiced the Kryptonian in 2013 animated movie Superman: Unbound, as well as the Flash in 2021’s Justice Society: World War II.
These days, Bomer is one of two actors who portrays the quirky hero Larry Trainor, aka Negative Man, on the TV series Doom Patrol. Bomer provides the voiceover for the completely bandaged-up version of the character, in addition to any preburned Trainor flashbacks.
How much were you into comic books and superheroes growing up?
I had the same level of interest that most young kids had, which is pretty high. In my opinion, they’re a formative part of any kid’s existence. From a very young age, we romanticise having superpowers. It’s a discussion we’ve had with all three of our sons at different times. There was a big discussion in our house of, “If you could have a superpower, what would it be?”
