Kang the Conqueror journeys through the future of the Marvel Universe in one-shot special Timeless
AFTER JONATHAN MAJORS’S star turn as the Scarlet Centurion in Loki, time-travelling supervillain Kang the Conqueror is now taking centre stage in Marvel Comics’ Timeless. Written by Jed McKay and drawn by Kev Walker, Mark Bagley and Greg Land, the 64-page one-shot acts as a prelude to the various seismic events set to shake the Marvel Universe over the next 12 months, which include the likes of the ongoing Daredevil-centric Devil’s Reign and January’s X Lives Of Wolverine and X Deaths Of Wolverine, as well as forthcoming Fantastic Four storyline Reckoning War.
“The idea of telling a story in which we could get glimpses of events that will play out during the coming year in some way was appealing to everyone,” Marvel executive editor Tom Brevoort tells Red Alert. “Kang was very much in the zeitgeist at that moment, as the final episode of Loki had just aired, so it was a simple matter for me to connect those dots and come up with the notion of a Kang story that would show moments from the year to come, since to Kang they’d be as historical as any other moment.
