THE WALKING DEAD
LIGHT AT THE END
THE MIDDLE OF THE END BEGINS WITH EIGHT NEW EPISODES OF THE WALKING DEAD’S FINAL SEASON
WORDS: TARA BENNETT
WHEN THE WALKING DEAD returned to our screens recently with new episodes – as it has in February for the last 10 years – it was, in one sense, routine. In another, it wasn’t, as “No Other Way” marked the post-apocalyptic drama’s last mid-season winter return.
Showrunner Angela Kang tells SFX that writing this eleventh and final season has been a series of tiny goodbyes, both in real life and on the page. And despite the fact that the series will close with an impressive 167 episodes, she says they’re still scrambling to fit everything into the dwindling hours left. “It doesn’t feel like it’s enough hours to tell the stories we want to tell, so we’re doing our best to funnel it towards something that we hope will be a satisfying ending,” she says.
