Once its initial design flaws had been rectified, 2020’s Sonic The Hedgehog turned out to be a surprisingly sprightly big-screen debut for Sega’s speed-freak fuzzball. Jeff Fowler’s follow-up keeps that film’s breezy tone and Jim Carrey’s OTT Dr Robotnik but otherwise struggles to reprise its winning formula.
