Describe the room in which you typically write.
► I have what has been called my “creepy murder shed”, but which is actually much nicer than the name suggests. It is, in fact, a shed – the kind of shed we once kept mowers and rakes and motor oil in, but has since been repurposed into a place I go to write every day. Sure, I might have an oubliette underneath and a trap door where I send those who displease me, but I don’t know that it deserves to be called a “murder shed”.
