Willow and Lark Ramble (100% wool, 50g/125m)

Yarn A Country Blue (135)

Yarn B Limestone (102) See table for measurements and yarn quantities 1 ball of each:

Yarn C School House Blue (136)

Yarn D Horizon Orange (112)

A 4mm (US G/6) hook

A 6mm (US J/10) Tunisian hook, 80cm cable

A 7mm (US K/10½) Tunisian hook, 80cm cable

TENSION

16 sts and 14 rows to measure 10x10cm (4x4in) over Tunisian simple stitch using a 6mm hook, or size needed to obtain correct tension

ABBREVIATIONS

Tfs (Tunisian foundation stitch) Loop on hook counts as first st, *insert hook in next ch/row-end, yrh and pull up a loop, leave loop on hook; rep from * are indicated

Tss (Tunisian simple stitch) Loop on hook counts as first st, *insert hook through bar on next st from right to left, yrh and pull up a loop, leave loop on hook; rep from * as indicated

RetP (return pass) Yrh, pull through first loop on hook, (yrh, pull through 2 loops on hook) rep across to end

RetP1dec (Yrh, pull through 2 loops on hook) rep across to end

RetP2dec Slip last loop on hook through penultimate loop, (yrh, pull through 2 loops on hook) rep across to end

Like snow falling on a winter’s day, the patterns on this thick jumper dance across a sky blue background – beautiful!

NOTES

Jumper is made in separate parts and joined. There are 3 Charts on page 88, which you will need to refer to. Read each row twice: once from right to left for the forward pass (FwdP) worked in Tss and once from left to right for the return pass (RetP). On the RetP, yrh with the colour shown on the Charts for each st across. The first row of each Chart has been written out to guide you.

When changing colour, twist the strands together and carry the unused colours across the WS of your work keeping an even tension so the work lies flat. To avoid carrying yarns over a large number of stitches, wind off smaller balls of Yarns C and D when the colours are worked twice on a row.
