Jo Hill

“I was so excited to be part of this challenge. Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year, so the theme for this challenge was perfect for me. I love traditional Christmas colours, so working in these muted tones of red, green and white was a dream. I wanted to make something fun for the table, a talking point over Christmas dinner, so I came up with the festive cactus! I decided to use simple crochet stitches so it’s a quick and easy make.” Find Jo on Instagram and Facebook at @magik_hook

Deb Ward

“I was super excited to take part in this challenge and try out these lovely Anchor organic yarns. I started with a more traditional lantern design, but that’s not quite my vibe. So, I had the idea to make a cute Christmas tree character, with a simple shape and quirky details, that could be a little table buddy for kids or keep Granddad company while he snoozes after the Christmas pud. I love puns, so please meet ‘Christo-Fir’, your new Christmas chum!”You can find more of Deb’s designs on Instagram at @hookanory

Clockwise from top left: Jo has decorated her Christmas cactus with tinsel that leads all the way to gold stars at the top; for the fairy lights, make the bulbs first, then make a chain join while adding the bulbs as you go; the arm decorations are made from short strands hooked through stitches
