Aside from a couple of subtle mecha-inspired decals, the ROG Phone 9 Pro seems to avoid most of the worst gamer phone stereotypes, with flat sides to the metal frame that make it easy to grip securely… but then I turn it on, and the 648 (count ’em!) red and white AniMe Vision LEDs on the back wink into life.
These display animations relate to the remaining battery life and current time, and will even let you play some built-in games that pay homage to classics such as Breakout and Snake. Fortunately you can turn them off and you’d never know they were there.
