Tiny glancer
If you’re looking for a camera on the inside you won’t find it: there’s a 4MP job but it’s hidden beneath the display. The one you can see on the outer display is 10MP.
Step into crispness
The trio of cameras on the back comprises a 50MP wide-angle with optical image stabilisation, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 10MP telephoto offering 3x optical zoom.
Pocket plan
If you do pick yourself up an S Pen, the phone still doesn’t give you anywhere to stash it; so Samsung has launched an updated S Pen Fold Edition Case (£tba) that has a slot for one.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5
With Google folding into the foldable fold with its Pixel Fold (reviewed on p50), Motorola’s Razr 40 Ultra bringing back the clamshell glory days and Honor launching its crazy-thin Magic V2 in China, there’s never been more competition among phones that can flex… and now things have just got even more interesting.
Samsung’s fifth iteration of the Galaxy Z Fold isn’t just 10g lighter – its new Flex Hinge means it’s thinner when folded, with no gap at all between the two sides. What’s more, open it up and you get a brighter, tougher 7.6in OLED screen with improved multitasking skills so you have easy access to more apps.
It’s powered by a special version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip that’s designed specifically for Samsung phones, backed by up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage (although that version will cost you £2049). You still don’t get an S Pen stylus included, so scribblers will need to find an extra £44 on top of that substantial asking price; but you do get a 4400mAh battery that should keep the Z Fold5 running for as long as 20hrs before it goes, er, flat.
