THE EARLY BIRD…
Stewart Collingswood caught this near 40cm grayling from his local River Tweed.
The founder of Alba Game Fishing had been at his desk by 4:30am to handle his daily admin and allow himself time for a day’s Euro-nymphing.
Stewart said: “After two blank but enjoyable trips, everything came together on this day. The water clarity was excellent, so I started with my favourite Sage ESN rod, fishing a team of two small imitative patterns on droppers, with a 4mm beaded nymph on the point of a 12ft cast.”
Stewart caught steadily throughout the morning and afternoon, with most of the fish falling to the top dropper, despite experimenting with and rotating the flies on his cast.
