HOW WATER AND FOOD AFFECTS TROUT COLOUR
Trout colouration is primarily about camouflage. Silvery fish will certainly come from clear water, while more heavily coloured fish will be produced in darker waters.
Another factor is that skin colour can reflect quality, in that a silver fish may outweigh a similarly sized heavily marked and coloured specimen, but not always.
