LAWRENCE WATSON
Paul McCartney
Working on War Child’s Help album, Abbey Road, 1995
“I was basically in-house photographer for Go! Discs [who put out Help] and they gave me a call. I’d been working with Paul Weller for quite a few years and I thought it was just him doing something, but then suddenly these people kept coming in: Steve Cradock from Ocean Colour Scene, Noel Gallagher, Paul McCartney… And all the celebrities came out: Johnny Depp, Kate Moss, Paul’s daughter Stella, it was like a roll-call of people from the ’90s sticking their heads in! “I think it was the first time McCartney got back to Abbey Road for a long time, and he had a bit of a nostalgic thing with the piano that had been left there from back in the day.”
