When should you start thinking about the colour palette for your project?
It is better to think about including colour in your design right at the start of your build journey. This doesn’t mean that you must choose a set scheme or be fixed on where you want exact shades to be used within the structure, but it needs to be part of the discussion from the outset to ensure the design and palette evolve organically together and complement one another.
When you first get started, try to think about how you want a space to make you feel when you’re in it. Would you like a certain room to be warm and cosy or bright and fresh, for instance? Then you can begin to look at colours and tones that create the kind of atmosphere you’re after. Similarly, consider how you’d like the space to be perceived – do you want it to feel bigger or narrower? Would you like one room to have multiple functions so need to delineate the space somehow? Having these intentions in mind at the outset will help the design and colour schemes develop naturally alongside each other to create your ideal space.
