Dancing Times  |  May 2018
we seem to be travelling the world in the May issue of Dancing Times. Not only do we journey to Blackpool in advance of the Blackpool Dance Festival at the end of the month, as well as hearing from the British Amateur Latin dancers Lloyd Perry and Rebecca Scott, we find out about Johannes Öhman’s plans for Staatsballett Berlin. In addition, we discover more about ballet and contemporary dance in Chile, and, through our regular columns, learn more about what has been happening in France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Norway, Russia and the US.
Closer to home, we mark the tenth anniversary of Ballet Theatre UK, the small-scale company that tours classical ballet to countless UK regional theatres, talk to choreographer Kim Brandstrup about his new full-length work for Rambert, and publish Matthew Bourne’s heart-felt tribute to his friend and colleague, Scott Ambler, who sadly died in March.
Lastly, we mark the passing of the extraordinary Ivor Guest, a dance historian like no other who had a long association with Dancing Times as editorial advisor and trustee dating back to 1963.
