EVERYBODY AND THEIR DOG wants to get the most out of their PC. Speed is key, and it’s a waste if you’ve got a rig that isn’t giving you all it can. There’s always overclocking, but if you don’t want to disappear down that rabbit hole just yet, we have a few things you can do to your build that should help get things running a little more smoothly. If nothing else, you will get a little peace of mind knowing you have tried these tips, but hopefully you will see increased performance and be able to crank up some game settings. Every little counts here, especially when it comes to competitive gaming.

1ENABLE ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE
One of the first things you can do to help speed up your PC or laptop’s performance is to check what power plan you are running. Head to ”Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.” This should show a list of preset power plans. To see all available options, click the drop-down arrow labeled “Show additional plans,” and make sure you are running your PC on the “Ultimate performance” option [Image A]. If using a laptop, ensure you are plugged in when using this setting, otherwise your battery life will be no better than that of an iPhone 4. Yikes. Switch back over to “Balanced” when unplugged to preserve your battery life.
